The Challenge
Consumers struggle to compare grocery prices across multiple supermarket chains, leading to higher shopping costs and inefficient purchasing decisions. The challenge was to build a scalable platform capable of aggregating and normalizing grocery pricing data from multiple retailers while maintaining performance, reliability, and future extensibility.
Our Approach
We designed a production-grade data aggregation and price intelligence platform using Django and Django REST Framework. The architecture focused on scalability, modularity, and data-source flexibility. A dedicated ingestion pipeline was implemented to collect and normalize pricing data from multiple supermarkets through isolated scraping services and structured processing workflows. The system was engineered to support future integrations including vendor APIs, user-submitted pricing, and advanced product matching capabilities.
